Vårda Ögonklinik Göteborg
Let's start saying that I am not sure if I would recommend Vårda to my friends. From the result prospective I'm very happy, the operation worked out really good. After 4 months I am satisfied by the result, I never used glasses again and my vision is good. I feel that I still need some months for proper settling my vision, but so far so good. The doctors, the surgery and the equipment were definitely satisfying. My problem with Vårda is related to the first follow up, 5 days after the surgery, in which they were supposed to remove the protective lenses. I feel that I received a treatment completely unprofessional. The post surgery is known to be tough, and after 5 days you would expect some care, some checkup with fancy equipment, or at least some comforting words. Instead, all the opposite happened. The staff asked a "how did it go?" kind-of-question and after reporting that I had some fever (38) in the previous days, I was told that it was probably because of the cold weather... Right after, they started trying to pull out my lenses with fingers (and really long nails). The first one came out easy, but the second one didn't. From there it started an around 30 minutes of torture. My girlfriend almost fainted at the view of 2 people sticking fingers in my eye ball and pushing my head around. The staff looked like nothing was under control and like they didn't know the procedure to follow, but just improvising. Beside the pain of this merciless treatment, it was annoying that they made it sound like that I wasn't able to stay still or withstand an easy removal of a lense. Therefore, they proposed me a strong painkiller but even if I refused that, I ended up having it... Not really ethic. I am quite sure that I can manage pain: in the days post surgery I took only a couple of mild painkiller.. but that treatment was long way more brutal than expected. I tried to keep calm as much as possible but my patience ended when the nurse tried to keep my eye open by rolling my eye lip around a wooden stick (a cleaner or something else found in the desk). At that point I asked for an appointment with the doctor. That night I left the clinic confused, in pain, with headache, my eye super red, and without knowing if the lense was still there or not. I spent the 2 days after fully convinced of opening a complaint to Vårda. Anyway, I was rescheduled to meet the doctor few days after and it was extremely professional: found and removed the lense in 5 minutes with the proper tools. After that, I had other 2 follow up meetings in which the doctor was great, helpful and professional. It's definitely thanks to them if I never failed my complaint to Vårda. Actually the "case was dismissed" for me until I received by email the invitation for writing this review. An eye surgery is not a joke, beside the not negligible investment of money and time, there are risks and hundreds of expectations from the patients.. And empathy from the personnel is definitely one of them! However, I think that Vårda is a good clinic and that I have been just unlucky in my particular situation (I mostly hope that). Coming to the conclusions (and linking to the starting sentence of the review), even if you are happy with the result of the surgery, would you recommend that treatment to any of your friends?
